Sir Robert McAlpine News and Comment How AI technology is helping drive project performance Find out how our partnership with Buildots is helping drive efficiency, improve collaboration and enhance client satisfaction. Since partnering with Buildots three years ago, we’ve been using its AI-powered construction management solution to help improve on-site performance and collaboration, enhance client relationships and effectively mitigate delay risk to keep our projects running smoothly. Allowing precise monitoring of onsite activities and performance, the platform’s ability to provide early warnings about potential delays and identify issues before they escalate has been critical in maintaining project schedules and avoiding potentially costly setbacks. Our teams have used Buildots technology across more than 260,000 sqm of construction area on five projects, with even more in the pipeline. Watch the video below to see how the partnership has delivered key benefits including: Potential delays identified early on allowing for mitigation plans to be put in place Efficiency, collaboration and accuracy improved via the use of automated reports Project delivery processes influenced by the use of performance-driven construction management techniques Created a culture of continuous learning and improvement Partnering with Buildots Please accept marketing-cookies to watch this video. Transcript 0:08 [Music] 0:14 we launched our digital construction 0:15 maturity Strat over 6 and a half years 0:17 ago now it's about the integration of 0:18 digital tools information management and 0:20 how we utilize that data a key thing 0:23 that we communicate and encourage on 0:26 Sir Robert McAlpine projects is to open up our 0:27 digital tools to our multiple 0:29 stakeholders our clients we want to have 0:31 transparency in what we're doing we want 0:33 them to have assurance and kind of 0:35 confidence in how we're delivering a 0:37 project and and this type of information 0:39 data can really help with that as well 0:42 we chose build dots because it allowed 0:43 us to accurately monitor the onsite 0:46 activities look at the performance of 0:48 each individual subcontractor and be 0:50 able to coordinate their works in the 0:52 most efficient way possible to achieve 0:54 program in the best possible way 1:01 delays within construction cause huge 1:04 program implications as well as the 1:05 associated costs the ability to have an 1:08 early warning for those delays that may 1:10 be upcoming or to understand if elements 1:12 of work are out of tolerance or not 1:14 install correctly allows us to take 1:16 action at the very first instance 1:19 correct it and mitigate it at the early 1:21 stage rather than it compounding and 1:23 becoming something that affects multiple 1:25 trades or multiple subcontractors and 1:27 affecting the project at a greater level 1:29 build looks gives you that accuracy 1:30 around look if we'll continue a certain 1:32 trade down that path this is what it's 1:34 going to look like without build dots 1:36 the problems down in front of you face 1:38 and then it's too late to react and then 1:39 you backpedalling all the way through so 1:41 for me that whole risk profile around 1:43 delays is absolutely critical delay 1:45 forecast I think for me is the strongest 1:47 part of the platform it gives us clear 1:49 insight into where each activity is 1:52 heading so we can clearly identify the 1:55 ones we need to focus on we've seen a 1:56 huge benefit around collaborative 1:58 planning I think for me with seen an 2:00 excellent interaction with our supply 2:02 chain it feeds into collaborative 2:04 meetings it allows us to plan the works 2:06 and effectively work more efficiently it 2:08 picks up issues at the very earliest 2:10 stage and presents them in a readable 2:12 way to the engineers traditionally 2:14 before we go into a meeting then the 2:16 first part of the meeting would be all 2:17 about you know what have we actually 2:19 achieved that week whereas having build 2:21 dots kind of just takes that away as it 2:23 so objective it allows us then to focus 2:26 the more time on the blockers the things 2:28 that are really in the way rather than 2:29 just discussing the percent 2:36 complete build is supporting us on a 2:38 kind of wider business level how it's 2:39 transforming the way we work now you 2:41 know it's supporting our Ambitions for 2:43 driving more enhanced data driven 2:46 efficient projects and ultimately it's 2:48 actually helping us support our 2:50 behavioural change management on projects 2:51 through the trust and through the 2:54 information and the data and analytics 2:56 that we're receiving from the platform 2:57 we're not going back to work areas to 3:00 correct things that we should have seen 3:01 at the very 3:07 outset pdcm or performance-driven 3:10 construction management takes our 3:11 progress tracking tool to the next level 3:14 where we're actually able to affect the 3:15 outcome of a project and deliver it 3:17 sooner so rather than just having the 3:20 data to see where we are in a project 3:21 we're actually using the data to 3:23 forecast where we'll be this allows us 3:25 to find opportunity and identify risk at 3:27 an early stage performance- proven 3:29 construction management has definitely 3:31 transformed the way that we deliver our 3:32 projects by enabling us to make data 3:36 driven decisions the engagement that we 3:38 see throughout the business from Sir 3:40 Robert McAlpine has enabled build dots 3:42 to really enhance the pdcm methodology 3:44 and drive efficiency through their 3:50 projects build-ups brings us transparency 3:54 reduces our risk and helps the future 3:56 proof us as we move forward as an 3:57 organization I see build dos being 3:59 intrinsic to how we go to work and how 4:02 we deliver our projects across all 4:04 sectors we want to make sure that you 4:05 know we drive a consistent product under 4:07 of the if we can get things consistent 4:09 by using the same tools that actually 4:11 work for what we want that's absolutely 4:12 critical in construction it's only been 4:14 a benefit to us throughout our works on 4:17 the project and I would only recommend 4:19 using it going forward I wouldn't really 4:21 want to do another project without build 4:22 dos as I've seen the first-hand benefits 4:25 of what it kind of gives a project and 4:27 it's revolutionized the way that I kind 4:29 of did doing my day to day well "It's transforming the way we work now. It is supporting our ambitions for driving more enhanced, data-driven, efficient projects and, ultimately, it's helping us support our behavioural change management." Nick Leach, Director of Digital Construction at Sir Robert McAlpine. "Performance-driven construction management has definitely transformed the way that we deliver our projects by enabling us to make data-driven decisions and allowing us to continuously monitor trade activities and trade pace so we can keep on top of any delays or any improvements we can make." Lee Howlett, Planner at Sir Robert McAlpine. Digital Construction We invest in industry-leading software and mobile applications. So we can deliver cost efficiencies and top performance - each and every time.
